For 2021, Bishop LaValley has chosen the theme, "A Lent Like No Other." We have created a special page on the website, with ideas and suggestions on how to make Lent 2021 -- our second pandemic Lent -- especially meaningful for our parishioners. Please click the button above left.
Please join us for Stations of the Cross, each Friday at 7 pm at the Cathedral. Covid protocols will be observed. Also, during Lent, an 8 am Mass will be offered each Saturday morning at Notre Dame Church. Please join us!
Masses at Notre Dame, 6:45 am and 5 pm, and at Saint Mary's Cathedral at Noon. Ashes will be distributed at the Noon Mass. To avoid physical contact during the pandemic, the ashes will be sprinkled upon our heads instead of marked on our foreheads in the shape of a cross. The tradition of ashes being sprinkled is an ancient practice in the Vatican and other places around the world, and it is rich in theological significance. Each year on Ash Wednesday, we are reminded that our faith is more than just outward show. We hear in the Gospel: When you fast do not look like you are fasting...wash your face, so that you may not appear to be fasting. There is a spiritual benefit to doing good acts without getting seen doing them. For this year only, we will do what we hear in the Bible: "put dust on their heads" as a sign that we are dust and to dust we shall return.
2020 Contribution Statements Please call the office if you would like to receive your 2020 statement. These statements will not be mailed out unless there is a specific request. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous support throughout a very difficult 2020, not only with your weekly donations but with your support of the other critical collections we take up. God bless you all!
Parish Mass Schedule Welcome back, everybody! How good that we can gather, with precautions in place, to worship God and celebrate our faith. Here is the Mass schedule for now: Daily Mass 6:45am Monday through Friday at Notre Dame Church, 12 Noon Monday through Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Weekend Mass 4pm at Both Notre Dame and St Mary’s, 8am at St. Mary’s, 9:30am at Notre Dame, 11am at St. Mary’s. The two added Masses are to allow for social distancing. We want you to feel safe when you come to pray. Those in the same household may sit together; others, please maintain a six-foot distance. Wear masks, except when receiving Holy Communion. Use the hand sanitizer provided at the entryways, as you enter and leave. When leaving, please allow those nearest the exits to leave first. Maintain the social distance then, too. Any parish donations/tithes may be left in the baskets at the front and rear doors. We can do this! Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation.
We're so grateful to those who are maintaining their giving during this Crisis! Several have asked about dropping off envelopes at the Office. We are requesting that envelopes be mailed to the office at 125 Ford Ave. Our mail is checked daily, and all monies received will be kept securely and processed regularly.
