"...the definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity."
Pope St. John Paul II *

St. Mary’s Cathedral Religious Education and Formation
St. Mary’s Cathedral, with Notre Dame Church, are preparing for the coming school year of formation classes. As last year, classes will be held at the former SMDA building (315 Gates Street).
Sister Bernadette Marie Collins, SSJ directs Family Catechesis as well as Religious Education (DRE).
Please be sure to make a note of our starting date! The first class for grades K through 10 is September 25. Parents are asked to attend that day to review our Religious Education Program and calendar for the year.
Students in grades K through 10 will meet every other Sunday morning from 10:45 – 12:15 at SMDA. This is after the 9:30am Mass at Notre Dame. There will be days when Grade 2 will remain in Church, especially as preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist comes close. We will need baptismal records for any students in sacramental programs (Penance, Eucharist and Confirmation).
Juniors and Seniors will continue to meet monthly in Brzana Hall, from 5pm-7:30pm. Details for the 2022-23 School year will be available shortly.
Family Masses are planned throughout the year, and will be noted on the calendar. These will be celebrated at the 9:30am Mass at Notre Dame Church. All grades and all families are welcome and encouraged to take part!
Thank you for all you do in forming your child(ren) in our Catholic faith. This is a treasure that will accompany and guide your family always!
Father of all families, you have called me to serve the family in truth and love as a catechist. May I be faithful to this call, rooted in your Word, and open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May I use these gifts, especially the gifts of faith, hope, and love, to serve the family as a witness to you, who are love and life and the source and destiny of all families. Let your Spirit enlighten my mind and strengthen my heart so that I can be a path of Christ’s love to families, especially those in need, the homebound and aged, the disabled and disheartened. Through the intercession of Mary and Joseph, I pray for the Church, the Bride of Christ, whose mission to build a civilization of love passes through the family. Amen.
